Thanks for your input! Great to hear your story, and a piggy bank is such a great way to start teaching children about money.

My son is 15 months old, and even now I am teaching him to save money. He has a piggy bank in his room, and he loves to put 5 cents into it and hear it hit the other coins. He enjoys hearing the sound of money, and each time we put money in, I tell him that we need to save money up so that we can buy things we want and need.

Those are some great ideas. You gave me the idea to look at Etsy, but I am in the UK, so I then did some more research and here is a list of websites like Etsy for people living in the UK: http://hubpages.com/_sitemap/hub/sites-like-etsy

Thanks!

@ roso - This will greatly depend on your financial situation, be sure to shop around.

@ prince - Thank you. it's comments like this that make blogging worthwhile :)

@ youmoney - Good point - lenders are definately still very cautious, but it's only a matter of time in my opinion...

Well Bison that all depends on your financial situation. Unfortunately for some it may be the only option left, but either way, it's not the end of the world if you have to go down either path - it's the begining of frugality!
